BE PATIENT

July 06, 2011
9:36 pm

“Be patient. Wait on the Lord for whatever He appoints, wait quietly, wait trustingly. He holds every minute of every hour of everyday of every week of every month of every year in HIS HANDS. Thank Him in advance for what the future holds, for He is already there.”
Lord You have assigned me my portion and my cup” Psalm 16:5
-       Elisabeth Elliot (Keep a Quiet Heart)

I’ve many a cross to take up now,
And many left behind,
But present troubles move me not,
Nor shake my quiet mind.
And what may be to-morrow’s cross
I never seek to find,
My Father say’s “Leave that to Me
And keep a quiet mind.”

Ephesians 1:11

11 In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will,

By believing that God means just what He says, and by acting upon the Word (faith always requires action), we apprehend it- we take hold of it, we make it our own. We cannot make it our own by mere reason- “I don’t see how such and such an incident can possibly have anything to so with any “divine” plan.”

Why should we see how! Is it not sufficient that we are told that it is so? We need not see. We need only believe and proceed on the basis of what assured fact.
Let it suffice you, to know that God knows if its time to work, go on with the job. Of it is time to go to bed, go to sleep in peace.

LET THE LORD OF THE UNIVERSE DO THE WORRYING.
-       Elisabeth Elliot (Keep a Quiet Heart)
